One of the most powerful artifacts ever created in Naruto series, the Scroll was crafted by the Hamura Ōtsutsuki.  His intent was to concentrate and enhance his own power.

To accomplish this goal, Hamura knew that the Scroll would need to contain an extraordinary amount of power. As such, he concentrated within the Scroll a great part of his own fëa (soul).

It was also known as the Ruling Scroll, the Sage's Scroll, and Scroll of Power.

HistoryEdit

The Scroll was made during the time of Hamura Ōtsutsuki who sought to make an object that could rule over lesser objects. It was sealed and hidden until being dug out in Sunagakure and won in The Battle of Omar and now being held by Andrey Senju.

Effects of the ScrollEdit

For mortals, the scroll had several side effects, most of them negative. Perhaps the first was that the bearer of the Scroll almost immediately began to develop an unusually strong attachment to it, and would be unwilling to give it up or abandon it. One potentially positive effect was that the Scroll may have granted the wearer some understanding of the speech of evil creatures. While holding the Scroll, Andrey was able to understand the Black Speech used by the dark creatures of the world. It also sharpened one's senses, and allowed one to perceive otherwise hidden things according to the stature of whomever wielded it. When a typical person held the Scroll, he would be partly "shifted" out of the physical realm into the unseen realm, walking its threshold. A side effect (but usually the first effect noticed) of this was that it made the wearer invisible to physical beings like living men, but highly visible to other unseen beings like Psi-Hounds.

PowersEdit

"War is upon us and all our friends, a war in which only the use of the Ring could give us surety of victory."
—Hamura[3]

A mortal holding the Scroll was made effectively invisible except to those able to perceive the non-physical world, with only a thin, shaky shadow discernible in the brightest sunlight. Whether immortals would be made invisible by it is unknown.

It might have also given its wielder the ability to read minds and communicate via telepathy, as Hamura suggested to Andrey when he asked if he could learn to communicate telepathically as he did. On at least one occasion, the Scroll sharpened its wearer's hearing at the expense of his visual acuity, and it may at that time have granted understanding of unknown languages.

Another power of the Scroll was the ability to project a false vision of its wearer to observers.

The Scroll was also able to generate and manipulate Wind and Fire Release.
